The Adventure Club of Kuala Lumpur in Association with The Adventure Club of Malaysia hosted the Siver Jubilee edition of the annual 4×4 Jamboree in Sepang located within the Sepang F1 circuit grounds. The 3 day event attactracted over 40 clubs around Malaysia and 5 diffrent catogories of 4×4 events were held under the diffrent specifications that gave 4×4 enthusiasts of all walks of life get a piece of the action. From Standard 4×4’s to extreme modifiactions the catagories were set out with special stages running day and night for the 3 days.
Also an interesting feature set up by vetaran overlander Stiven Sim, where he set up an obstacle course for the brand new car dealers to test the new vehicles that are on offer to literally put their vehicles to prove their vehicles to test what the claim. A simple course with asends and desends, axle articulation and a standard wading excercise. The Chinese copies of the Japanese designs were clearly set apart. While a Isuzu D Max drove through as nothing bothered it the Great Wall Copy could not even get up the hill, and had to be assisted out with its clutch burning. It was proof that “Cheap Things No Good, Good things No Cheap” Four Wheel Drive Club set up a Sri Lanka Booth along with its Malaysian Partner Rainforest Challenge secretariat, promoting the Taprobana 4×4 challange, known to Malaysians as RFC Sri Lanka
.
There were over 40 Booths where other clubs and 4×4 accessory dealers set up their stalls to attract the attention of the 4×4 community of Malaysia. While the some of them were very creative with Short Skirted, Young women in Tight clothing, doing the promotions, our booth had the life size cut out of a Sri Lankan Airline Steward welcoming everyone to Sri Lanka. We also had the first foreign entry car that registered to our event, in our booth with our event stickering.
The Sri Lanka offer was on the table for the extreme class winner, 1st runner up, and 2nd runner. The Awards ceremony was concluded on Monday the 17th, and on 18th we were getting the phone calls from competitors who want to ship their cars to Sri Lanka, by wed 19th of Sep, we had 8 vehicles confirmed and to be serious enough they paid the carnet deposit and booked their space in the container before the cut off on Friday.
