Dr. Gnana Sankaralingam was elected as the President of the Festival of Cricket in the UK for the year 2012/2013

Dr. Gnana Sankaralingam,an old Royalist and a well known personality among the Sri Lankan community in UK, was elected as the President of the Festival of Cricket organisation for the year 2012/2013. The Annual General Meeting was held on Sunday the 07th of October at a Sri Lankan Restaurant in Cricklewood, London. The other contestant for this post was Mr. Jay Edirappuli, an well known old Anandian and a past president of the FOC.

Very popularly known as “Dr. Gnana” has been a representative of Royal College OBA at Festival of Cricket for several years, and held the post of Secretary for the last three years. Having been the President of two prestigious organisations in the UK, Srilankan Medical Association and the Old Royalist Association in the UK, made him the best choice to head the FOC, in this Silver Jubilee year.

Dr Gnana has stood up against injustice at all times preserving the sovereignty and the integrity of the organisation. In his address, he thanked the member old boy association for having faith in him, particularly those who stood by him, and assured them that he will uphold the tradition and practice of the organisation. He appealed to the members to shed the differences, and give him their whole hearted support and work towards organising a successful festival.

Mr. Leslie Gunaratna of Rahula OBA was elected uncontested to the post of Secretary and Mr. Natkunam Wimalendran was elected uncontested to the post of Treasurer.
