Sir Ian Botham distributes cricket equipment through SriLankan Cares

SriLankan Airlines continuing its commitment in development of youth, made a donation of cricketing equipment to deserving students of Andiambalama Maha Vidhyalaya In Katunayake under the patronage of Sir Ian Botham.

Sir Ian Botham who was in Sri Lanka on a charity mission took his time off to participate in the donation ceremony held at the head office of SriLankan Airlines in Katunayake.

SriLankan Airlines has identified education and youth development as one of its priorities and strives to enhance the facilities and welfare that is provided to Sri Lanka’s younger generation.

The event was attended by Sir Ian Bothom and Lady Kathryn Bothom and the children of Andiambalama Maha Vidyalaya were thrilled to accept the equipment from the world renowned cricketing legend.

There are 949 students in Andiambalama Maha Vidhyalaya out of which 478 are girls and 471 boys.  The children have displayed outstanding talent in a variety of sporting events. The Girls’ Cricket and Elle teams emerged as the provincial champions and became 3rd at the All Island Championship this year. They won many track and field events bringing glory and recognition to the school.
